In your first weeks

Weeks 1–4

Get a SIN for every adult in your family, and for each child.You need it to work, file taxes, get benefits, and receive RESP grants.

Months 3–12

Open an RESP for each child and ask for every grant and the Canada Learning Bond.The government adds 20% of what you save.
